Rewan ("we", "us") operates the Rewan app, a local discovery app for Erbil, Kurdistan. This policy explains what information the app handles and why. It is provided in English only.
Rewan does not require you to sign up or log in. We do not collect your name, email address, or phone number to use the app.
If you grant location permission, your device location is used only on your device — to sort places by distance and show what's nearby. It is never sent to Rewan's servers or to any third party.
Places and offers you save are stored only on your device (local app storage). They are never uploaded to our servers.
Your selected language and whether you've completed onboarding are stored only on your device.
If you turn on notifications, your device is issued an anonymous push token, which we store (along with your device platform — iOS or Android) so we can send you notifications about offers and updates. This token is not linked to your name or any other identity, and it is deleted from our records if you turn notifications back off.
When you ask Rewan AI a question — by typing or by using the microphone — your message (including the audio recording, for voice questions) is sent to Google's Gemini AI service to generate a response and, for voice, a transcript. This is the one point where your input leaves Rewan and is processed by a third party; it is subject to Google's own privacy practices for its API services. We do not use your Rewan AI questions for advertising.
Supabase hosts our place and offer catalogue and stores anonymous push tokens. Expo's push notification service delivers notifications to your device. Google's Gemini API powers Rewan AI, as described above. None of these services receive your name or contact details from us, because we never collect them in the first place.
Local data (saved places, language preference, onboarding status) stays on your device until you clear the app's storage or uninstall it. Push tokens are removed from our records when you disable notifications. We do not sell your data.
Rewan is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from children under 13.
You can allow or deny location and notification permissions at any time from your device Settings. You can remove saved places or offers at any time inside the app. You can simply not use the microphone or chat features if you'd rather not send anything to Rewan AI.
We take reasonable measures to protect the limited data described above, but no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure.
We may update this policy as the app changes. Continuing to use Rewan after an update means you accept the revised policy.
